The plot of the book is as follows: In 2005, Petty Officer Senior Staff Sergeant Charles Monroe King begins keeping diaries for his son, as he may not be able to return from the war in Iraq. On October 14, 2006, he was killed by a roadside bomb. King’s son is seven months old when the diary, which exceeds 200 pages, is half complete. A Journal for Jordan is a letter written by a mother about her father, whom she lost when her son could not yet speak.
