Birds of Paradise Synopsis
Two girls at an elite ballet academy in Paris are tested in their ties and bodies as they compete for a contract to attend the Opéra National de Paris.
It focuses on the story of Kate Sanders, an ambitious and talented, masculine, aspiring ballerina from Virginia who was accepted into a scholarship program at a prestigious Ballet School in Paris, France, because of her low-income status. Upon arriving at this brutal institution of international fame, her self-confidence and emotional strength are tested by Marine Durand, a beautiful, mysterious dancer who recently lost her brother (and dance partner) to suicide.
Contrasting at first, Kate and Marine’s relationship turns into an emotion-charged, competitive Union filled with lies, sexual awakening and, ultimately, emotional breakthroughs, as they risk everything to win the contract to attend the school’s ultimate prize, the Opéra National de Paris.
